First, I want to thank all of you for coming out the first practice of 2007 for Roanoke Youth Ultimate (RYU). It is always a rush to see new faces on the frisbee field, especially those with the potential of becoming great ultimate players.

This email is mainly to acknowledge the email address you all gave me and provide a forum for communication between all of us.

Practices are twice a week at Cave Spring HS on the field closest to the parking lot next to tennis courts.
Sundays @ 2:00pm
Tuesdays @ 3:30pm
I understand you all have family, school and church commitments, but I request that you commit two (2) hours minimum to every practice. If you have to leave early, please come tell me before you go. We practice as a team, one unit, just like band, cross country, or any other sponsored school activity.

For the next few practices, we will do the same drills:
30 minutes - Pair off at 20 yds, throw and catch practicing skills, expand to 30 yds.
30 minutes - Basic Line Drill - two lines face each other. Receiver points to direction of break, and thrower completes pass. Receiver brings disc to throwers line. Repeat. Switch directions.
1 hour - Scrimmage
Remember what you need to come to practice and upcoming season. If you don't have these, please try to get them soon:
175 gram Ultimate frisbee disc
Cleats
Light shirt and dark shirt
Water
UPA Membership (www.upa.com) $20 per year Student rate, you can pay on line or mail in. Includes UPA Liability Waiver, Medical Release, & (if under 1 Chaperone Waiver.

Please invite anyone from any school who is interested in Ultimate, disc sports or just plain exercise to join us. I have 20 players from 3 schools on the rosters so far, a good start but we will need more to play well and have fun.
